Position Overview-Position Title: Music/Worship Leader Golden Valley Lutheran Church (UPDATED)

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” Psalm 95:6

We are looking for a worship leader with a passion for developing Christ-centered worship through both traditional and contemporary music, drama and technology.

Qualifications:
• Dedicated passionate Christian committed to the spiritual and worship needs of the church and familiar with the Lutheran Church year.
• A degree or equivalent experience, with demonstrated leadership in both traditional and contemporary worship styles.
• Skilled at reading music and proficient in singing and playing an instrument. People person with energy and enthusiasm able to motivate various age groups.
• Team player/leader who recognizes the necessity of collaborative and innovative planning.
• Able to lead groups of both volunteers and professionals.
• Skilled in organization, administration and communication.

Responsibilities:
• Lead/direct choirs and praise band at rehearsals and services, including special seasonal services.
• Lead and plan worship with other team members on a weekly basis.
• Select and coordinate appropriate music for all worship services.
• Cultivate and coordinate the talents and spiritual growth of musicians, song leaders, choirs and worship leaders.
• Recruit, raise up and train participants and leaders of all ages.
• Is comfortable with and willing to learn current computer, sound, visual and lighting technologies.
• Manage budget for guest musicians, workshops and music libraries, including CCLI membership.

Personnel: Our congregation has a long tradition of valuing the importance of music in worship.

We currently have:
• An accomplished organist/accompanist pursuing her doctorate in organ performance. She is also an accomplished pianist in a variety of musical styles, can improvise and has a solo voice.
• A volunteer adult choir of about 22 people, more during festival seasons. Two occasional adult groups, a teen group, flute group. (All to be led by the Worship Leader.)
• Plans to hire 3 - 4 proficient musicians to form a base group to play/sing in a contemporary Praise Band along with volunteers from the congregation to be led by the Worship Leader.

Equipment in the Sanctuary:
• Zimmer Pipe Organ, Grand Piano, Clavinova and Drum Set
• Band and General Sound System and Screens

Hours and Compensation:
• Part time position averaging 3 days/week
• Salary negotiable in the $25000 range depending on education and experience.
