Position Overview-Dates of Camp: May 29- August 3

QUALIFICATIONS 
Completion of high school or at least 18 years of age. 
Active Christian faith and a genuine interest in the faith development of children and youth. 
Emotional maturity, good moral character, and integrity. 
Pass a state run background check.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 
Provide leadership and guidance to all campers. 
Take primary responsibility for the health and well-being of campers. 
Enforce the rules and policies of camp. 
Serve as a Christian role model to campers in personal faith, worship, language, appearance, manners, and health habits. 
Complete tasks assigned by the camp directors to complete (e.g. art, devotions, hiking, special group projects, administrative assistant, etc.). 
Work together with the entire staff for the welfare of the camp and campers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB 
Auditory and visual ability to respond to critical incidents. 
Ability to perform routine first aid tasks. 
Abilities to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. 
Ability to lead and participate in activities that help all campers be involved and have a successful experience.

ACCOUNTABILTY
The camp staff are accountable to the Summer Camp Director or Camp Leader
Note: Camp counselors’ hours are flexible during the week with respect to days worked and number of hours per week.
Camp directors will work with counselors to accommodate family vacations, additional summer jobs, and other activities, but consistent availability during the ten-week summer camp is required.
Counselors are generally given a one-week scheduled vacation period plus an additional three days of scheduled time off. Applicants who are not able to commit to this schedule may apply to be considered for a substitute counselor position.
