Position Overview-Concordia Publishing House (CPH), the publishing arm of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), is seeking Senior Print Buyer to purchase all products and services as they relate to assigned product lines in accordance with purchasing standards and procedures. This position is responsible for initiating problem solving efforts and finding solutions to the everyday activities of purchasing, including, but not limited to proofs, revisions, quality, printing and binding techniques, scheduling and delivery of products or services, press impositions, and press approvals as required.

Specific duties include:

•Evaluate vendors to develop and maintain an acceptable supplier list, based on increased savings and reduced production lead-time.
•Leverage print and bindery expertise to recommend substrates, print and bindery specifications for book, magazine and curriculum print projects.
•Identify print partners that balance cost, quality and schedule expectations.
•Work with the internal team to develop product and/or marketing materials to ensure they are efficiently manufactured and delivered to the marketplace on time. Communicate changing technologies and/or production equipment to ensure the best product configuration.
•Evaluate supplier base to identify best-fit suppliers for each purchase.
•Analyze cost and bid information using cost analysis tools as they pertain to purchasing and scheduling requirements. Utilize vendor certification and quality program data in analysis.
•Provide timely, complete, delivered costs and vendor recommendation to internal customers.
•Monitor production/assembly of products to ensure a quality product is delivered on schedule.
•Inspect product as it comes into to ensure its level of quality.
•Address receiving issues and accounts payable authorizations in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

•Bachelor’s degree in a business related field is required.
•Five years of experience in standard purchasing, inventory control procedures and content delivery methodology.
•Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
•Handles multiple projects simultaneously.
•Works with a sense of urgency in completion of all job duties.
•Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
•Ability to work independently and take initiative to reach informed decisions.
•Strong computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook).
