Position Overview-Concordia Publishing House is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer.

This position is responsible for creating an original graphic identity for product and promotional pieces. This position will work directly with clients on teams and arrange type, art, and photos into compositions that appeal to prescribed markets and within budget, schedule, and technical parameters.

Specific duties include:

Providing design solutions to satisfy internal directives and external customer needs.
Creating comprehensive layouts (with art and/or photos), including suggestions for paper, ink, binding, and other (embossing, foil, matte/gloss finishes, etc.).
Preparing reprint work.
Producing final designs as digital files for output to required specifications.
Maintaining knowledge of and be able to apply current style trends to work.
Preparing finished files for archiving.
Using traditional artist's tools/computer; create some acceptable line art, B/W, vector or full-color artwork designs.
Managing multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines, while meeting or exceeding internal productivity, design, and scheduling timelines.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Bachelor's degree in art/design with two years of design industry experience.
Proficient with Macintosh computers. Skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other tools as needed UTC (Type Management Software).
Able to communicate (verbal and written) as well as in visual form.
Ability to use traditional graphic processes as required.
Knowledge of basic printing terminology and publishing industry terms and practices.
Knowledge of art history and current commercial art style trends.
Knowledge of Web design basics is desirable.
Knowledge of Biblical subjects.
Knowledge using Quark.
