Position Overview- | Our Christian school is looking for an elementary teacher dedicated to continued Christian personal growth and guidance and a model to others of God’s love.
He/she must hold a valid teaching certificate appropriate to the area of responsibility at the time of initial hiring or be eligible for an internship at HTLS.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Planning, supervising, and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and
philosophy of the School.
Work with the Director and other teachers in setting the curriculum, scope, and sequencing of educational
goals and materials used in the classroom.
Gear the program to meet the needs of individual students.
Coordinate the Room-mothers in the classroom to help with class parties, field trips, special needs, etc.
You are encouraged to visit each new student’s home. This is one of the best ways to get to know a
student and his/her family and background and an opportunity to share information about HTLS and
witness for Christ. You may ask that a member of HTLC Outreach Ministry Team go with you.
Conduct Parent-Teacher conferences under the guidelines set by the Director.
Attend and actively participate in all PTO meetings and extra-curricular programs unless excused in advance by the Director.
Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
Attend all staff meetings unless excused by the Director.
Arrive at school 30 minutes before the students and remain available to the students, parents, other staff, or Director, 30 minutes after school is dismissed unless excused by the Director.
Attend daily staff devotions each morning and share in leading the devotion and prayer time.
Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other areas of professional growth.
Help maintain discipline and order in a Christian manner.
Confront conflict with another individual under the guidelines of Matthew 18:15-20 as described in the school handbook.
Each new teacher will participate in a Pastor’s Inquiry class in order to learn and understand the Lutheran
perspective and avoid teaching in contradiction to it.
