The Purpose of the Advancement Team

The Advancement Team at CLHS (Concordia Lutheran High School) coordinates the efforts of the fundraising, admissions, and marketing duties as part of the strategic plan set forth by the CEA (Concordia Educational Association) Board of Directors and the Head of School.

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is to provide leadership, guidance, and service communicating that strategy in a clear, concise, consistent manner both within our high school and in the Northeast Indiana community.

The desired outcomes for the Advancement Team are a collaborative culture of fundraising, alumni engagement, admissions, and marketing that makes the Concordia experience a very real and transformative joy in the lives of our students and parents; our alumni are proud to be part of our Cadet family and eagerly share their joy in supporting the ministry of our high school; and the Biblical values that are the Concordia tradition are communicated in a manner that is clear, concise, and consistent.

The Role and Function of the Marketing and Communications Coordinator

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is to strategically showcase the academic, athletic, and extracurricular activities of CLHS. This will be met by the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Marketing – Providing content aligned with overall marketing strategy and working with outside vendors as necessary. Experience in both short and long-term marketing strategy implementation through various platforms (print, social media, advertising). Able to run targeted marketing campaigns effectively and efficiently. Work with Director of Admissions to enhance brand awareness and attract prospective students and families. Conduct market research and analysis to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitors.
• Creating compelling and persuasive content and stories for semi-annual magazine, website, speeches, social media, reports, donor letters, weekly blog, weekly and quarterly newsletters, etc.
• Produce mass internal and external communications both in print and electronically. Develop and execute communication strategies to foster effective communication within the school community; including faculty, staff, students, and parents.
• Branding – Maintain and promote a consistent brand image and messaging across all communication channels, including digital and print media. Create and update marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, banners, and advertisements; ensuring alignment with the school’s guidelines and strategy.
• Take active role in managing school social media platforms, both as primary administrator and secondary role when needed supporting other departments.
• Graphic Design – Creating updates to files (mainly existing templates) and working with freelancers on larger projects. All work is done in InDesign, Publisher, and Photoshop.
• Video – Recording, editing, and producing videos as needed; along with collecting weekly Maroon Minutes from students. Work with outside vendors, students, and teachers as necessary. Run livestreaming and webinars as necessary.
• Website – Maintaining the school website with all text, regular photo, regular news, and content updates; forms, SEO, and other keyword and metadata strategies. Also, contribute to the Athletic Website with weekly story and content updates.
• Photography – Act as the school’s photographer, photograph events and “student life” around the school, and maintaining the school’s archive.
• Media Relations – Writing press releases and acting as a media contact for the high school. Establish and maintain positive relationships with local media outlets, coordinating press releases, interviews, and media coverage for school events and achievements.

Directive

The Primary-Directive: When representing the Association or Concordia Lutheran High School; the Marketing and Communications Coordinator shall act in a manner that is ethical, prudent, legal, and consistent with the Christian faith, the Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws and Policies, the Strategic Plan, Statement of Faith, and Mission of the Association and CLHS.

Positional Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related fields.

Experience: Five or more years in marketing, communications, or public relations. Graphic design, social media experience, data analytic skills essential.

Skills and Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; proven problem-solver, able to collaborate across departments to fulfill mission goals; enthusiastic and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; adaptable but committed to excellence. Can multi-task while establishing priorities in support of multi-department personnel. Essential computer and database skills mandatory. Able to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders; including administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and delegates. This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.

Accountability

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is accountable to the Chief Advancement Officer of Concordia Lutheran High School.

Salary & Benefits

Salary is established by the current compensation model and commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualifications. Employee benefits are outlined in the current Employee Handbook and selected by the employee.

Term of Service

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator’s offer of employment shall be on an annual basis. It is assumed that, given a positive performance review related to the professional development program, employment will be ongoing.
