Position Overview -
  1. The Director of Music (DM) helps Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC) praise and thank God through music.
  2. The DM will communicate with the church leadership via text, email, and telephone in addition to face-to-face meetings.
  3. The DM is accountable to the Pastor, Elders, and congregation of RLC.
  4. The DM develops, coordinates, and administers music for worship.
  5. The DM provides leadership and supervision of all musicians involved, recruiting and arranging for visiting musicians as appropriate, and maintaining a cantor and communion hymn schedule.
  6. The DM is the primary organist for worship services and other occasional services and programs and designates substitutes as necessary.
  7. The DM responds to the scriptural and liturgical theme of each service with like-minded hymns, anthems, preludes, postludes and voluntaries.
  8. The DM recruits for, rehearses, and directs the RLC vocal choir.
  9. The DM supervises the organization and direction of all church music.
  10. The DM coordinates rehearsals and service appearances for all music in worship (e.g. handbells and other musical ensembles).
  11. The DM supervises maintenance of all RLC-owned music materials and instruments, ensuring compliance with licensing and copyright law.
  12. The DM develops and presents a yearly music budget to the RLC church council.
  13. The DM prepares and publishes a report to the church council on the state of the RLC music program at least quarterly.
  14. The DM monitors the sound transmission of the musical offerings and requests adjustments as needed.
  15. The DM will perform or coordinate additional duties as requested by the Pastor and Elders of RLC.
  16. The DM will regularly publish music program updates in the RLC Newsletter.
