Position Summary:

The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT) by enhancing and sustaining support from US-based churches, schools, and advocates. This role focuses on relationship-building, community engagement, and effective communication to achieve fundraising and engagement goals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the mission and vision of Lutheran Bible Translators to various stakeholders, including churches, districts, schools, conventions, and individual supporters, to meet engagement and fundraising targets.
  • Establish and nurture a network of community engagements through relationship-building, public speaking, and team collaboration.
  • Represent LBT at churches, businesses, and associations to generate leads for community engagement and fundraising.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for church and school engagement, fostering relationships that align with their interests (advocacy, giving, etc.).
  • Facilitate the mobilization of staff and missionaries for relevant speaking opportunities and events as they arise.
  • Ensure accurate information-sharing and record-keeping across departments to manage church and school relationships proactively.
  • Collaborate with development staff to assist in donor engagement efforts as needed.
  • Equip and encourage church and school partners with knowledge and best practices for active participation in the Bible translation movement.
  • Oversee and maintain advocacy program.
  • Contribute to the creation and revision of case statements and gift proposals, incorporating donor feedback and performance metrics.
  • Maintain documentation of all engagement activities, interactions, and outcomes in the organization's database for ongoing analysis and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with development and marketing to implement a communications plan that integrates social media posts, monthly newsletters, website maintenance, blog updates, and impact stories.
  • Work in collaboration with chief leadership, as directed, on projects, grants, and events that benefit all parties involved.
  • Organize and support community engagement events to enhance the visibility and impact of LBT.
  • Submit accurate expense reports and documentation for all job-related expenses.
  • Adhere to and develop structured rhythms for relationship-building and maintain regular contact with key church and school leaders.
  • Plan and organize personal domestic travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Preferred candidate will have a Lutheran background and strong knowledge of the faith.
  • Strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and implement plans to achieve engagement and fundraising goals.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a willingness to support others in their roles.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and donors.
  • Interest in all aspects of LBT’s mission programs and a dedication to promote fundraising priorities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Prefer two to three years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising, community engagement, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in public speaking and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in managing relationships with donors, churches, and community stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer or performing other tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently travel domestically as required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events and community engagement.
