Job Opportunity: Contemporary Music Coordinator

General Function

The Contemporary Music Coordinator works closely with volunteer musicians, along with staff, in providing coordination and leadership to the contemporary praise team at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the Lead Pastor, select music for contemporary worship guided by message themes and our shared music vision.
• Lead weekly rehearsals of the contemporary praise team.
• Lead team in contemporary worship services.
• Team communication and coordination, including: scheduling musicians, monthly music plans, maintaining music slide presentation accuracy, and ongoing communication with musicians and staff.
• Work with praise team to integrate new pieces into the repertoire at a consistent, appropriate pace. Supply necessary music files to the musicians to aid in becoming familiar with new music selections.
• Support, train, and empower volunteer musicians in an ongoing manner. Mentor team members in the art of worship leadership.
• Lead praise team as a CGS Community, emphasizing not only service in worship, but also connecting as friends and growing in a living relationship with God.
• Identify and actively recruit new music team members.
• Work with A/V Tech Coordinator to ensure the proper mix for the Praise team on the Worship Center sound board.
• Work with Office Manager to edit worship service slides.
• Other duties as requested.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Robust musical experience, particularly in contemporary music leadership.
• Experience in enhancing worship themes through music.
• Positive experience with building teams of diverse musical talent and skill.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Compassionate care for the well-being of others, promoting openness within teams.
• Familiarity with necessary software and online resources (CCLI, Planning Center, worship presentation software, Microsoft Office software, and frequent e-mail communication).
• A heart for God and passion to be His instrument in reaching people with the Gospel using his/her God-given gifts and abilities.
