‍Position: Music Director

‍Job Description:  The Music Director is a part-time, salaried position that is

responsible for the overall music program of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church (“ASLC”).

‍Accountable to:  Lead Pastor

‍‍Accountable for: Praise Band/Team Members, Choir, Other Musicians/Soloist and Audio Technicians

‍‍Duties and Responsibilities:

1.       Plans, arranges the music, and provides keyboard accompaniment for all scheduled church services.

‍2.     Works closely and cooperatively with the pastors in planning music appropriate to the church services.

‍3.     Arranges for choir, other musicians, solos, or special music, as needed, for all church services.

‍4.     Organizes and oversees rehearsals/practice for the praise band/team, choir, other musicians, and soloists.

‍5.    Oversee all requests for music, including the use of any musical property of ASLC, for unscheduled special services or ASLC activities. The Director of Music is permitted to negotiate a special fee for unscheduled special service/activities with the parties involved. This includes weddings, funerals, memorial services, and other private functions held at ASLC.

‍6.   Responsibility for ordering supplies related to the ASLC music program and the maintenance of musical and sound equipment.

‍7.     Responsibility for licensing requirements and necessary reporting.

‍8.    Responsibility for remaining within allotted and budgeted funds for the music program. Any funding above budgeted amounts must be approved by the Church Administrator through the Lead Pastor.

‍9.    Provide reporting to the Church Administrator for the current budgeting process.

Qualifications:

‍1.     Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to the ministry of the church.

1.     Degree in music, worship arts, or a related field preferred, but not required.
2.       Experience directing choirs and/or worship teams.
3.       Ability to read music and lead vocal rehearsals.
4.      Appreciation for a wide range of musical traditions, including traditional, contemporary, gospel, multicultural, and other worship styles.
5.      Ability to build bridges across generations, cultures, and musical preferences.
6.       Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
7.      Competence with audio-video technology and proficiency with computer software, especially Microsoft Office programs. ‍
