Full-Time | Concordia Publishing House | St. Louis, MO

Are you a skilled developer looking to use your talents in a mission-focused environment? Concordia Publishing House (CPH), the publishing arm of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, is seeking a Level 3 Software Engineer to join our Business Systems team. In this role, you'll work on a suite of mission-critical applications that power our operations-from finance and marketing to warehouse logistics and customer service.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced full-stack developer with strong .NET skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for writing clean, efficient code. You will contribute to both standard and custom solutions, primarily supporting CPH's Adobe Commerce (Magento) platform and its integrations.

As a Level 3 Software Engineer, you'll:

  • Independently analyze requirements, design, develop, and maintain medium-sized features and enhancements for internal business systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, PHP, JavaScript, and related technologies.
  • Lead or co-lead the planning, risk management, design, testing, deployment, and maintenance of assigned projects.
  • Contribute to and review technical designs and implementation plans.
  • Proactively resolve tickets, support end-users, and self-manage tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve business processes and system functionality.
  • Stay current with new technologies and development practices to continuously grow your skill set.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior engineers.

You're a strong candidate if you have:

  • A solid understanding of Microsoft development frameworks, including C#, .NET, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and Visual Studio Code.
  • Proficiency with ASP.NET 8, ASP.NET Core, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Adobe Commerce (Magento).
  • Experience with SQL Server, including management, queries, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of web services and APIs, including REST, ODATA, XML, and JSON.
  • Experience with Git, TFS, Azure DevOps, and deployment tools.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • Familiarity with core business processes such as finance, order management, and distribution.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role, with a track record of success using the tools and technologies listed above.

We offer a mission-driven, faith-focused workplace where your work helps support ministry efforts around the world. Our generous benefits package includes:

  • Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, vision, and wellness programs
  • Financial Security: Life insurance, AD&D, disability, and survivor benefits
  • Time Off: Generous PTO, paid holidays, parental leave, mission trip opportunities, and jury duty leave
  • Retirement: 403(b) with company match + pension plan contributions
  • Education Support: Tuition reimbursement for you and for children attending LCMS elementary or high schools
