Position Overview - | The Technical Services Librarian is responsible for technical functions of the library, including cataloging, creating, and maintaining metadata for print and electronic collections, print serials, bindery shipments, statistics and reporting, and scholarly communications. The ideal candidate for the Technical Services Librarian role will be a detail-oriented and organized professional with a strong background in cataloguing, metadata creation, and collection management. They will have experience using Library of Congress subject headings and classification, as well as a deep understanding of technical services workflows in an academic or theological library setting. Additionally, they will be proficient in managing print and electronic collections, including copy cataloguing, serials management, bindery preparation, and electronic resource troubleshooting. They should be comfortable compiling and analyzing collection usage statistics to support data-driven decision-making. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability are essential for overseeing special and rare book cataloguing, managing gift book triage, and contributing to scholarly communications initiatives. The ability to assist with reference and circulation services ensures a well-rounded approach to library support. A passion for theological scholarship, experience with integrated library systems, and a commitment to enhancing library services through technical expertise and collaboration will make this candidate an invaluable asset to the team.
